Freshman Focus - JaEra Griffin
JaEra Griffin has turned people's heads from left to right as she's zoomed past them on the track for several years now. In 7th grade, she ran a 24.68 200 and a 55.79 400 at the Texas A&M Indoor Classic. She was 13. The rules at A&M forced her out of the finals, and she was DQ'd due to age.
Unfazed, she's now Texas' leader in the 100 meters, posting an 11.73 on March 9, 2018 at the Lancaster Meet of Champions. This time ranks fifth in the nation, regardless of age.
